Commuter & Off-Campus Student Services
Student Leadership and Engagement (SLE) is committed to supporting the needs of our commuter and off-campus student population here at Buffalo State. Our office acts as a liaison for our students, connecting them with resources and support systems here on campus. Through intentional, inclusive services and programs, we aim to help commuter and off-campus students make the most of their time on campus, build community, and succeed both academically and socially.
What Do We Do?

Take a look at our current and upcoming program offerings for our commuter & off-campus students!

Join us in celebrating our commuter & off-campus students during this exciting week! This typically occurs every Spring.

Check out our newest addition to the student union: the Commuter Student Lounge! This will be open starting Fall 2025.

The Commuter Listserv is our primary method of contacting our commuter and off-campus students! You will be automatically added if and when you registered as a commuter student.

Check out our Resources tab for a mix of on-campus and off-campus information to support our commuter & off-campus student population!
We highly encourage our commuter and off-campus students with vehicles to get to campus early to secure a parking spot, as spots fill up quickly. Utilize the Campus Map (linked in our Resources tab) to help identify a good parking lot. (PSST: We recommend I-33 for the best access to the union.)
Getting involved on campus is one of the best things you can do as a commuter/off-campus student. We get it: life gets busy! If you have an hour to fill at noon, why not stop into the student union, or attend a General Interest Meeting of an org you're interested in! There are always things happening on campus at many different times of the day. Take a look at Bengal Connect to get an idea of what's going on - you may be surprised!
Many departments and offices are often looking for an extra set of hands, whether that be with answering phones, writing emails, or providing general support. An on-campus job will not only empower you with a little extra money in your pocket, but also help equip you with the tools you need to succeed beyond Buffalo State.
If you're interested in getting an on-campus position, we recommend checking out the Career and Professional Education (CAPE) office in Cleveland Hall 306. They can also be contacted at (716) 878-5811 or careers@buffalostate.edu. We're rooting for you!
Gym memberships can be extremely expensive, but Buffalo State has fitness centers and athletic spaces that are available to our undergraduate students at no charge! Want to get in a workout session or just get your body moving? Visit Athletics in the Houston Gym and they can hook you up with any sports, workout rooms, and more.
Student Leadership and Engagement (SLE) is wholeheartedly committed to student success and promoting a sense of belonging for our commuter and off-campus students. If you need assistance, have suggestions for programs, or simply want somewhere to hang out, you are always welcome to visit us on the 4th floor of the Student Union.
